About the resort

About Carezza

Carezza. The Ski Area Carezza-Nova Levante lies in South Tyrol, in the central Dolomites, in the Catinaccio massif. The main villages of the area are Carezza (Karersee) and Nova Levante (Welschnofen). This relatively small resort is ideal both for family skiing and as a place to take your first steps on skis. The 40 km of pistes are just the right amount for newcomers not to lose their bearings or their enthusiasm. More experienced skiers will also find plenty of enjoyment on the slopes around Carezza. This is where you will find the longest run in the area: an eight-kilometre intermediate piste from the Kölner Hütte to Welschnofen. There is a floodlit slope in Nova Ponente (Deutschnofen). Ski kindergartens offer the youngest supervision and great fun in the snow. The appeal of this picturesque corner of the Alps is enhanced by its link with the large Dolomiti Superski region. Not far from the Ski Area Carezza lie much larger ski resorts, such as Obereggen, Val di Fassa and the Sella Ronda. The drive takes about 20 minutes. There are not many cross-country trails around Carezza (16 km in total), but they run through very picturesque scenery with views of the Catinaccio and Latemar massifs. Nearby there is also an extensive network of beautifully prepared cross-country trails around Nova Ponente (Deutschnofen) and Monte San Pietro (Petersberg). 30 km of cleared walking paths, a mild climate and picturesque scenery encourage walking in the area. The walk around Lake Carezza (1,520 m), also called "Lec de ergobando" (the rainbow lake), is well worth doing; Sigmund Freud and Winston Churchill, among others, holidayed on its shores.
