Alpe Lusia/Bellamonte is part of the Val di Fiemme/San Floriano group of ski areas. The Val di Fiemme, in the north-east of the Trentino region and picturesquely surrounded by the Latemar, Lagorai and Pale di San Martino ranges, is often called the "gateway to the Dolomites" and offers more than 100 km of pistes at altitudes from 860 to 2,450 m, 98% of which have snowmaking. The Dolomiti Superski pass is also valid in the region, which means you can use the 1,200 km of pistes of the world's largest ski circuit. The Alpe Lusia resort lies between the Fiemme and Fassa valleys, on the slopes of Le Cune (2,380 m) and Laste (2,500 m). You can start skiing either on the Val di Fassa side, at Ronchi (3 km from Moena), or on the Val di Fiemme side, at El Zirmo/Bellamonte (6 km from Predazzo). Families with children and beginners will feel at home on the slopes on the Val di Fiemme side. They are gentle, wide and wonderfully sunny. The pistes leading down into the Fassa valley towards Moena are much more difficult and cannot really be recommended to those who feel unsure on skis.
