The Nos Ladins (We Ladins) project aims to invite tourists to discover the local traditions and way of life. No-one can do this better than those who actually live there.

Nos Ladins (We Ladins): how to experience Alta Badia like a true local

Alta Badia (South Tyrolean Dolomites, Italy): The Nos Ladins (We Ladins) initiative gives those who visit Alta Badia the opportunity to carry out activities together with the people who live here. The undisputed protagonists of the project are united by a deep innate passion for the place where they were born and grew up. No-one is able to bring these experiences to life more intensely than those who live in these places. Spending time together with a young baker, a ski expert, a young mother with a passion for cooking and homemade decorations, six piste insiders, a young sommelier, two professional snow groomer drivers and a mountain guide is an experience that remains in the hearts of the people who participate in the activities of Nos Ladins (We Ladins).

These are the appointments not to be missed until the end of the 2021/22 season:

Bakers for a day

Spending a few hours with Nikolas, a young local baker, means discovering the world of baking from a very privileged point of view. Nikolas will reveal to participants some of the secrets of his preparations, from the typical Schüttelbrot bread to the various types of bread that are brought to the table in Alta Badia. These are the appointments taking place in the family bakery: 2 February and 23 March 2022.

Easter decorations assured

The appointment with Betty, an energetic woman and young mother, is scheduled for 30 March in a typical farmhouse in the valley. The afternoon is reserved for decorating Easter eggs, an activity that is very widespread and popular in all Ladin valleys. The event is open not only to adults but also to children.

Ski mountaineering at dawn and breakfast at the mountain hut

Two appointments not to be missed for those who love ski mountaineering and admiring the sunrise in the midst of the spectacular scenery of the Dolomites. Participants on 19 January and 16 March 2022 will be accompanied by Roman, an expert local mountain guide.

In the cellar with the sommelier

On 9 February and 2 March, together with the young sommelier Kristin, you can discover and taste some of South Tyrol's best wines and a few local grappas. The tastings will take place in an old wine cellar, which will provide a typical and authentic atmosphere.

A perfect pair of skis

Norbert is a master at preparing and waxing skis. At a ski rental shop in Alta Badia, he will demonstrate how to prepare and set up skis. Norbert carries out his work with attention to detail, from waxing to sharpening the edges. On 9 March 2022, Norbert will also get the skis of those who join him into perfect shape.

On the piste on the snowcat

Every evening, after the slopes have closed, the numerous snow groomers set to work to ensure that the slopes are perfectly prepared for the next day. The job of snow groomer drivers is not easy, but it is certainly very exciting. The thrill of getting on a snow groomer and preparing a ski slope is certainly a unique emotion, which can be experienced together with Julia and Daniel on the evenings of 17 February and 3 March 2022.

Insider skiing

Skiing with someone local, who knows every turn that can be taken on skis, who tells the stories of the places and the people who live there or have lived there, who can describe the beauty of the environment from a particular point of view is an experience that goes beyond the hour spent with the ski instructor. Each appointment will take place with a different insider, in different places. These are the appointments: 26 January, 3 and 10 February, 17 and 24 March.

Booking is compulsory at the Alta Badia Tourist Offices. All appointments will be held in full compliance with the current Covid-19 rules.
