Skolnity is one of the most conveniently located ski resorts in Wisła. The resort is practically in the town centre, on the north-east slope of Skolnity mountain, right next to the Centrum ski jump complex. From Wisła's Centrum Przesiadkowe transport interchange to the lift's valley station it is less than 700 metres. Thanks to this location you can come here for a few hours of skiing without wasting time travelling to more distant parts of Wisła.
The resort opened in January 2015. Its main lift is a Leitner four-seater chairlift, 800 metres long. It takes skiers up to about 660 m, with a panorama of Wisła and the surrounding mountains. It is precisely because of its location and views that Skolnity is sometimes called the "Roof of Wisła".
Skiers have two main pistes of different difficulty. The blue one, 1,100 metres long, is intended mainly for less experienced skiers and families with children. The red one, 980 metres long, is sportier and will suit those who are confident on skis and like to go a little faster.
Both pistes run through wide forest cuttings. Their line is varied, with many bends and sections that open up views of the centre of Wisła. The vertical drop is about 200 metres. The pistes have snowmaking and floodlights, so they can also be used in the evening. That is when the panorama of the lit-up town looks especially striking.
Skolnity works well both for a few hours' skiing and for a full day out with the family. Two pistes of different difficulty let skiers match their runs to their ability, and the winding lines keep repeat runs from becoming monotonous. Further pluses are the easy access and the proximity of the centre of Wisła, with plenty of places to stay and eat.
For beginners and families with young children there is Polana Pingwina (Penguin Meadow), by the lift's valley station, next to the car parks and ticket offices. It is a gentle meadow separate from the main pistes, with a 70-metre magic carpet.
On Polana Pingwina children can take their first steps on skis or a snowboard, and there is also a dedicated sledging area. Beginners do not have to go straight onto the main pistes, which makes learning easier and lets them get used to the equipment gradually.
The resort has a ski and snowboard school and a rental shop. The chairlift is also fitted with the Kid-Stop system, which makes the ride safer for children.
One of the most distinctive spots at Skolnity is the area around the lift's top station, with viewing terraces and the Karczma na Skolnitym inn. You can rest between runs, have a hot meal and admire the panorama of Wisła. The inn serves, among other things, pizza baked in a wood-fired oven. There is also a Ski Bar at the valley station.
Guests can use free car parks at the valley station, with room for more than 300 cars. From there you can go straight to the ticket offices, the rental shop and Polana Pingwina. The resort is reached via Przy Skoczni street, near the centre of Wisła.
Skolnity is also a year-round resort, and in recent years it has greatly expanded what it offers outside the ski season. One of the biggest summer attractions is the Bike Park, with seven bike trails totalling about 9 kilometres. There are both easier sections where you can work on your technique and much more demanding trails for experienced riders.
They include the three-kilometre Blue FLOWer, with flowing bends and small obstacles, and the 2.5-kilometre Red Air, for more advanced riders. Fans of technical riding can choose harder natural trails through the forest, with roots, rocks and steep sections. There are also trails with bigger jumps and other features typical of modern bike parks.
Riders use the same chairlift that serves skiers in winter. It is fitted with special carriers for transporting bikes. On site there is also a bike rental shop, and riding lessons are on offer.
One of the most important investments of recent years was the opening, on 2 December 2025, of a wooden viewing tower on Wierch Skolnity. The structure is about 38 metres high, and a path more than 700 metres long leads to the top, running among the tree crowns.
At the top there is a spacious viewing terrace and distinctive projecting hand-shaped platforms. From here you can see Wisła, the Silesian Beskids and the surrounding ridges from a completely different perspective than from the terraces by the lift station.
A big advantage of the tower is the design of the path. It has no steps, and its gentle gradient means people with limited mobility and families with pushchairs can also reach the top. This makes it accessible to a wide range of visitors.
Near the top station there is also a brine graduation tower, a playground, an avenue of wooden sculptures and an animal enclosure where you can see alpacas and a donkey, among others. All this makes Skolnity a good family day out even for people who neither ski nor cycle.
Since 2018 Skolnity has been part of Grupa Pingwina (the Penguin Group), which brings together five Polish ski and tourist resorts. Besides the Wisła resort, the group includes Czarny Groń in Rzyki, Kasina Ski & Bike Park in Kasina Wielka, Słotwiny Arena in Krynica-Zdrój and Kurza Góra in Kurzętnik.
Cooperation within the group includes a joint ski pass offer, including Pingwin PASS, which gives access to the group's resorts on the terms set for each type of ski pass.
Skolnity combines a convenient location in the centre of Wisła with interestingly laid-out pistes and good facilities for families. In winter it draws skiers who want well-groomed, floodlit slopes, and in the rest of the year cyclists and visitors who come for the many attractions at the top. With the expanded Bike Park and the new viewing tower, it is worth a visit in any season.
