Gogołów is a large village in the central part of the Strzyżów Foothills (Pogórze Strzyżowskie), between Brzostek and Frysztak. Here the Carpathian Foothills take the form of a strongly rolling upland, with long parallel ridges dropping to wide valleys and height differences of up to 150 metres. The further east you go, the stronger the influence of the continental climate: it brings slightly less snow than areas further west, but lower temperatures, which make extra snowmaking possible. On the slopes of one of the ridges rising above Gogołów from the south lies the small but fairly modern Pod Dziedzicem ski resort. It has two parallel button lifts, 500 metres long, plus an extra rope tow for beginners and a separate ski kindergarten. A wide piste runs down along the lifts, with a fine view of the highest part of the Strzyżów Foothills, formed by the bold, almost Beskid-like summit of Bardo (534 m) and the neighbouring peaks of Chełm and Klonowa Góra. The pistes total almost 1 km, and lift capacity is 1,370 people per hour. At the top of the resort there are car parks (there are more at the valley station, all free of course), a ski bar and a guesthouse with rooms right by the slope. Here too is a Hucul horse stud with an indoor riding arena next to it, which together make a rather interesting leisure complex. At the bottom of the slope there is a rental shop and a ski service. All in all, Gogołów is a small family resort that stands out from the neighbouring villages mainly for its good layout and modern infrastructure, although the skiing terrain (as at most resorts of this kind) is rather limited.
