Photo: OSiR Małastów. Małastów, in a wide valley at the foot of the lofty ridge of Magura (called Małastowska to distinguish it from the other Maguras of the Beskids), is perhaps the most ski-oriented village in the Beskid Niski. It has no fewer than two ski areas: one in the centre of the village and the other below the summit of Magura. They used to be run by a single owner, the Gorlice sports and recreation centre (OSiR), but for several years the ski area on the slopes of Magura Małastowska has belonged to a different owner; a description of its pistes can be found in a separate article here>> The slope in the centre of the village has remained under the management of the OSiR from Gorlice. This small ski resort consists of three lifts: two T-bars of similar length, running roughly parallel to each other, and a third, a small rope tow serving a nursery slope for beginner skiers and snowboarders. Two pistes run alongside the lifts, both fairly easy, floodlit, groomed and covered by snowmaking. By the lifts there is a small food outlet, an equipment rental shop and a ski school. The village itself has several agritourism farms, and the surrounding area is rich in interesting historic sights. In the village there is a former masonry Lemko tserkva (Eastern-rite church), and in the neighbouring villages you can also admire wooden tserkvas, masterpieces of folk carpentry. Another interesting feature of the landscape is the old First World War cemeteries, most of them recently restored, which record the fighting in the area in 1914-15, including during the famous Battle of Gorlice.
