Malá Úpa is one of the most beautifully situated villages in the Krkonoše. Although the local ski areas are rather modest compared with other resorts nearby, its historic buildings, the wonderful atmosphere of a mountain village and the beautiful scenery make it worth a visit, even if you are already a seasoned skier. Skiers have two areas, linked by a free ski bus. Closer to the border and the main road is a long T-bar that gives access to one of the highest pistes in the Czech Republic. The second area, closer to the church mentioned above, covers pistes on the Pomezní hřeben slope, which offers an exceptional view of the highest mountain in the Czech Republic, Sněžka. Skiers have 4 lifts from 300 to 1,000 m long and a children's lift. In total there are more than 3.5 km of pistes served by 8 lifts. Accommodation, on the other hand, is plentiful, made up mainly of characterful mountain huts, of which there are more here (for such a small area) than anywhere else in the Krkonoše. The number of restaurants and bars is also entirely satisfactory. Extra attractions include sledging and more than 14 km of cross-country trails in the area. Malá Úpa can also be the starting point for a very beautiful hike to the highest peak of the Krkonoše (and of the whole Czech Republic), Sněžka.
