About the resort

About Stubaier Gletscher

The base for the Stubai glacier is the village of Neustift, in the very heart of the valley. The daily drive from Neustift is a slight inconvenience, but the quality of the skiing on the glacier more than makes up for it. Among the pistes (at altitudes of 1,750 to 3,200 m) intermediate runs predominate, but fans of steep descents that demand good technique will also find something for themselves. The longest piste is the Fernau Mauer run (4 km long, with a vertical drop of 700 m). The Wisbi ski race course is another attraction. For the youngest, the glacier has a Mickey Mouse Ski Club. Cross-country fans can test their fitness and skills on the highest trail in the region (2,600 m). The cross-country trails on the glacier are laid out according to snow conditions. The Serleslifte Mieders resort has little to offer alpine skiers (only 7 km of pistes), but it may be quite interesting for cross-country skiers (45 km of marked trails); for snowboarders it has a fun park with a boardercross course, and several toboggan runs have been built there, one of them floodlit. Elterlifte in Neustift does not have many pistes either. It does, however, have a snow park for snowboarders and a toboggan run, and local attractions include hang gliding and parachute jumps. Schlick 2000 offers 18 km of mostly easy pistes, a varied snow park (halfpipe, quarterpipe, high jump, funboxes, big wall, etc.), a toboggan run, a few kilometres of cross-country trails and, for children, the Kinderland (child-friendly lifts, pistes, a ski school and other attractions). Among the other attractions of the Stubaital, ice climbing on the glacier certainly deserves a mention. Fans of the sport can train at 2,600 m. The region also offers superb conditions for winter walking. The Stubaital is a very popular choice for family holidays. The villages in the valley are full of traditional inns serving Tyrolean food.
