A ski amphitheatre unlike any other is formed by the so-called rounds, an ingenious system that lets you ski all the way around the resort without taking your skis off. You arrive back at your starting point almost without noticing, and without having to use the same piste twice. The red round (die Rote Tauernrunde) runs clockwise, the green one (die Grüne Tauernrunde) anticlockwise. Getting around is helped by 26 conveniently placed lifts (2 gondolas, 17 chairlifts and 5 T-bars). Importantly, you can easily ski to the lifts from every hotel, so you do not need a car at all during your stay. Skiers will find everything here, from perfect carving pistes to untouched slopes under a thick layer of snow. Once you have had your fill of the rounds, you can make the most of the pistes outside them. Obertauern caters for fussy guests too: depending on the slope and piste, snow, temperature and light conditions vary. Crowded ski buses? A long way to the piste? Stress on holiday? Not in Obertauern. Everything is close by, and the resort staff look after all their guests' needs. If you come with your family, you can count on professional childcare both at the hotel and on the slopes. The many ski and snowboard schools compete with each other in what they offer (fancy-dress balls, snow games, discos and parties for little ones). With its 100 kilometres of friendly pistes, Obertauern is not only for experienced skiers. Those taking their first steps on skis will soon feel confident here. Newcomers can choose from an unlimited range of courses at every level, designed for all age groups. Anyone who gives it a go will discover how enjoyable skiing can be and will not leave as a beginner. The well-equipped Après Ski complex in Obertauern caters for body and mind. During a break from skiing you can relax in the sauna, the pool or the spa treatment rooms. And anyone with energy left for a heady night out after a day on the snow will not be bored either. Plenty of good venues tempt you with hot rhythms and delicious drinks (for example Monkey’s Heaven, Römerbar, Taverne über das People, Nanu). Obertauern's many bars, pubs and discos are open to visitors every evening and every night.
