About the resort

About Meiringen-Hasliberg

The Meiringen-Hasliberg ski resort in the Bernese Oberland offers skiers a total of 60 km of pistes. The centre of this ski region is Meiringen, in the Hasli valley. The whole area is dominated by the Glogghus peak (2,534 m). Above Meiringen lie the villages of Hasliberg, and the next level up is the ski terrain. Skiers can get here by car, bus or cable car from Meiringen. Bidmi (1,423 m) serves as the transport hub of the whole area. From here the way up leads in two directions: to the Hochsträss ski area and to Planplatten. It is from the summit of Planplatten (2,245 m) that a former World Cup piste runs: steep and difficult almost all the way, easing only towards the end, where the slope becomes gentler. Steep, wooded and partly rocky slopes make it impossible to ski right down to the valley floor. The vast majority of pistes in the Meiringen-Hasliberg area are marked red. Experienced skiers looking for a challenge will have the least choice here. The longest run is the scenic piste from the summit of Glogghus via Hochsträss and Käserstatt and then down the slopes of Hasliberg. It is 10 km long and of intermediate difficulty. Cross-country skiers have more than 30 km of trails in the region. The highest trail runs at 1,840 m at Käserstatt. There are also two floodlit 5 km trails of intermediate difficulty. The network of walking trails is very well developed. The route from Meiringen to Mägisalp (1,708 m) is particularly worth recommending. On the summit of Planplatten another attraction awaits skiers and walkers: the Alpentower panoramic restaurant, with superb views of the whole Bernese Alps massif. Meiringen offers its guests a very rich après-ski scene. Besides typical Alpine entertainment, it has a special attraction in the form of the Sherlock Holmes museum.
