About Zwardoń Ski

Zwardoń-Ski photo: J.Ciszak. Zwardoń-Ski is currently the most modern ski area in Zwardoń, on the slopes of Mały Rachowiec (841 m). In the late '70s and early '80s two T-bars were built here, then owned by the Przedsiębiorstwo Turystyczne "Soła" tourism company; after privatisation in the '90s they were bought by separate owners. Only in recent years has this changed somewhat, and a joint ski pass for both slopes has been restored, which is both convenient and logical, since they were built as a single complex. In the 2012/13 winter season, on the slopes of Mały Rachowiec, a worn-out T-bar was replaced by a four-seater Doppelmayr chairlift almost 800 metres long, with a height difference of about 150 metres between the stations, able to carry about 1,800 people an hour. The strip cleared through the forest for the piste was widened considerably and snowmaking equipment was installed. At the valley station there is a ski bar, a rental shop, a ski service and a ski school, and there is also a children's lift at the bottom of the gentle slope. At the top a snow park has been built, along with another bar. The main piste has a fairly even gradient, has been reprofiled and is marked red (we would count it among the easier reds), allowing dynamic carving. It has an easier variant at the top, and to the left of the main slope the maps show a black freeride piste, which in reality is a run through the trees. Since last season the same ski pass has also covered the Duży Rachowiec lift, and only this makes it possible to speak of the whole area as an interesting family resort (but one for advanced skiers too). A cross-country and ski touring trail has also been marked out in the Rachowiec area.
