Witów, a dozen or so kilometres west of Zakopane, has long been popular with skiers, especially those taking their first steps on skis. They mostly used the dozen or so T-bars scattered around the village, but the construction of a new ski resort in 2006 changed the winter face of Witów somewhat. A four-seater Doppelmayr chairlift was built then, about 800 metres long with a vertical drop of up to 160 metres. Alongside it a wide, easy piste no longer than 1 km was laid out, and there is also a training T-bar for the youngest. Near the valley station skiers have a self-service bar and the Witowianka restaurant, and you can also eat at the top. There is, of course, a ski service and a ski school. Witów-Ski is known above all because since 2007 it has been home to the snowboard school of Jagna Marczułajtis, Poland's most successful female snowboarder. An extra attraction is the fine view of the Western Tatras from practically the whole slope. In many ways the resort in Witów was a pioneer of the small family resorts, several of which later appeared in the Polish mountains.
