About the resort

About Garmisch-Classic

Garmisch-Partenkirchen was formed by merging two towns, Garmisch and Partenkirchen, and lies at 720 m. The resort has superb ski terrain of varying difficulty. For intermediate skiers there are the Osterfelder slopes with the Hochalm pasture. A more difficult run full of moguls is the Bernadein, and the Längenfelder slopes are no less sporty. The Kandahar run on the Kreuzjoch is for the brave, as many a racer has had moments of terror here. The almost 4 km run goes down the wildly steep Tröglhang. There is no question of skiing slowly here, as you have to tackle a 600 m vertical drop in one go. Running parallel to it is the Olympic run, which is much gentler. Beginners, on the other hand, are advised to stay on the Kreuzwankl and ski down to the valley on the Tonihütten run. Garmisch-Partenkirchen welcomes lovers of mountain scenery, who can admire a magnificent panorama of the Zugspitze and Alpspitze and the wild, sharp summits of the three Waxenstein peaks.
