The Karlov ski resort, in the southern part of the highest section of the Jeseníky, is arguably the fastest-growing ski resort in Moravia. In the last few years three chairlifts have been built here, turning a small village into a fast-developing mountain resort. Without much exaggeration you could call it the Moravian “Białka”: it does indeed resemble the Polish resort of Białka Tatrzańska as it was a few years ago. The resort is made up of three areas covered by a joint ski pass. The largest is Karlov, in a side valley a few kilometres from the centre of Malá Morávka. It has a four-seater chairlift and several T-bars with easy blue pistes. There are also three somewhat harder pistes, and one slope is floodlit. Further up the valley is a smaller area, Kloubouk, on the slopes of the mountain of the same name. Here skiers have a two-seater chairlift and two pistes, a black one and a red one. The third area in the complex is closer to the centre of Malá Morávka and is called Kopřivná. Here you will find a four-seater chairlift and a long, easy blue piste. In total the SkiKarlov complex has 6 T-bars and three chairlifts, and the pistes total more than 9 km. There are also several other independent lifts in the village, so the choice is very wide. The choice of accommodation and places to eat is also very good, which is why Karlov is becoming more popular year by year.
