Most of the pistes in the Skiarena are of intermediate difficulty, so skiers of moderate ability have a wide choice here. Beginners will find many gentle slopes suitable for learning (on Watschiger Alm, Auernig and Tressdorferhöhe, among others). Very good skiers are left with 10 km of difficult pistes and freeride terrain away from the marked runs. Nassfeld Hermagor has very modern infrastructure, and huge sums are invested every year in expanding it further. This is where the Millenium Express was built, the longest gondola in the Alps (more than 6 km long). It provides a comfortable and fast (17 minutes) ride up to the sunny slopes of Nassfeld. You can of course also drive up to Nassfeld, but the winding mountain road can be tricky, especially after heavy snowfall. It is better to take the gondola, all the more so because a ski train takes skiers from the car park to the valley station (free of charge, of course). Nassfeld Hermagor has a very attractive offer for cross-country skiers. A hundred kilometres of groomed trails is a lot. Most of them run along the Gail valley, where conditions for the sport are particularly good. On the Sonnenalpe Nassfeld itself there are rather few trails. Besides excellently groomed ski slopes and a dense network of cross-country and walking trails, the region draws visitors with its particular climate. Nassfeld gets around three hundred sunny days a year. Even so, there is no need to worry about a lack of snow, as all the pistes have snowmaking. Besides skiing, the Nassfeld Hermagor area offers many other winter sports. A good place for that is the Blue Day Park, where you can try your hand at nine different snow sports. In the winter months the frozen Pressegger See becomes a sports and leisure centre of its own. Nightlife takes place mainly in the bars and restaurants of Sonnenalpe Nassfeld, where loud music in open-air bars is nothing unusual. Hermagor is quieter and therefore more often chosen by families with children.
