About the resort

About Kaunertaler Gletscher

Kaunertal is in fact the name of a valley above which the mighty Weisseespitze massif rises to 3,535 m. Its upper reaches are covered by a glacier (Kaunertaler Gletscher), and that is where, at 2,150 to 3,160 m, the year-round ski area lies. Skiers have about 30 km of pistes here, mostly easy and intermediate. There are 7 T-bars and 3 chairlifts. The base for the glacier is Feichten, in a calm, quiet valley. From there you can reach the foot of the glacier either by a 20 km mountain toll road (free for ski pass holders), or, after driving part of the way, by a chairlift that starts at 2,150 m, has a middle station at 2,400 m and ends at the foot of the glacier, at 2,750 m. The view from the top station is truly magnificent: the summits of the Weissseespitze and the Wiesskogel dominate the icy cirque. On the glacier, cross-country skiers can train at 2,800 m.
