Sölden: skiing on two glaciers (Vlog #084)
Skiing in Sölden... for many people it is a ski dream come true. It is in the premier league of ski resorts in the Alps. After visiting James Bond and relaxing at the Aqua Dome, I invite you into the world of eternal snow, to the Tiefenbach and Rettenbach glaciers in Sölden.
To reach the glaciers you have to drive more than ten kilometres up the road where scenes from the film SPECTRE were shot. The Tiefenbach and Rettenbach glaciers are separated by mountains, so you get from one to the other through tunnels: one for cars, the other for skiers. The better known of the two is the Rettenbach Glacier, which has hosted the October races that open the Alpine Ski World Cup for many years.
On the "black" piste the best women and men race in giant slalom. Once every two years, in spring, it hosts a spectacular show: Hannibal.
