Seiser Alm / Alpe di Siusi: 9 days in South Tyrol (Vlog #052)
Seiser Alm / Alpe di Siusi is a ski resort in South Tyrol (northern Italy), close to the pistes of the famous Val Gardena, set at the foot of the imposing peaks of Sasso Lungo, Sasso Piatto and Punta d'Oro. The sun-drenched Seiser Alm is the largest high mountain plateau in Europe. Exceptional sunshine (as many as 300 sunny days a year) and plenty of easy pistes sum up this resort in a nutshell.
It is an excellent place for families with children, beginners and those who like to combine fairly gentle skiing with sunbathing in beautiful mountain scenery. Paradoxically, despite its very sunny climate, Seiser Alm always guarantees excellent snow conditions, thanks to a modern snowmaking system that covers practically the whole ski area. A local attraction is the Seiser Alm Witch Route.
It leads through the most scenic corners of Seiser Alm, where, legend has it, the witches who lived around Mount Schlern held their sabbaths long ago. The stops along the route are: Puflatsch (2,130 m), Spitzbühl (1,935 m), Panorama (2,009 m), Goldknopf (2,249 m), Williams Hut (2,100 m), Steger Dellai, Monte Piz and Piz (2,005 m). Besides the fairy-tale views, the route's undoubted attractions are the wooden installations along the way and a park with huge witch figures.
