About the resort

About Paseky nad Jizerou

Paseky nad Jizerou is one of the sunniest ski resorts in the Czech Krkonoše. It lies on the slopes of the Bílá skála massif (964 m), the westernmost part of these mountains, separated from the rest of the range by the deep Jizera valley. The lifts and pistes are laid out among the houses of the hamlet of Hořensko, loosely scattered over the slopes. It is one of the less visited places in the area, and so it is secluded and quiet. Skiers have a wide choice of terrain of varying difficulty: beginners and advanced skiers and snowboarders will all find something for themselves. The resort's main axis is a pair of T-bars running from the main car park to the summit of Vystrkov (860 m), the highest point of the resort. From the summit the pistes run down: to the right of the lift (looking downhill) easy blue ones, to the left somewhat harder ones. Parallel to the two T-bars, a 4-seater Garaventa chairlift was built recently, with red pistes running alongside it. Near the car parks there are also easy practice areas for beginners. Paseky nad Jizerou is without doubt a very good place for families with children. In total there are more than 10 km of downhill pistes served by 6 T-bars and 1 chairlift. Some of the slopes are covered by snowmaking, and there is also a new snow park. As befits a “truly Czech” ski resort, there are cross-country trails too, more than 30 km in total. A trip to the nearby summit of Štěpánka is particularly attractive, with the finest panorama of the Jizera Mountains.
