Kohútka is one of the most beautifully situated ski resorts in Moravia, and also one of the largest and most modern. It lies on the ridge of the Javorníky range, right by the Slovak border, on the road from Nový Hrozenkov to Lazy pod Makytou in Slovakia. Thanks to its fairly high position the climate is quite favourable, and the snow cover usually lasts until the end of March. The resort's main lift is a new four-seater chairlift, alongside which runs a moderately steep piste that is nevertheless marked black. There is a car park at the chairlift's valley station, and you can also drive further up the road and park on the pass in the upper part of the resort. Below the ridge there are several more T-bars with red and blue pistes. In total there is one chairlift, six T-bars and more than 6.5 km of downhill pistes. There is also a very well organised ski park for children, which makes the resort a great place for families. As befits the Czech Republic, there are plenty of cross-country trails in the area, 18 km of them right by the resort. The resort's appeal is boosted by the views of the Moravian-Silesian Beskids, the Jeseníky, Slovakia's Malá Fatra and Veľká Fatra, and the Kysuce. Mountain huts and hotels high on the ridge let you not only stay close to the lifts but also spend a night up in the mountains.
