Photo: Jacek Ciszak. Vallnord is Andorra's second ski region alongside Grandvalira. It comprises three ski areas linked by a 50-person gondola: Arinsal and Pal, which you reach by gondolas leaving from the centres of the charming towns of La Massana and Arinsal, and the Arcalis sector, hidden deep in the mountains and served by a free ski bus. The resort is just 13 km from the capital, Andorra la Vella, and from there it is only 15 km to the Funicamp gondola, which takes you right into the heart of the Grandvalira area. The Vallnord valleys offer 80 km of perfectly groomed pistes and the best snow conditions in the Principality. Arinsal-Pal has 63 km of pistes at altitudes of 1,550 to 2,560 m: 5 km of black, 16 km of red, 16 km of blue and 4 km of green pistes, plus a top-class snow park. The resort is practically made for families with children and for beginner and intermediate skiers. Children are sure to love the slopes designed specially for learning, the snow gardens and the pistes suited to safe skiing with the whole family. Adults will appreciate the varied and, above all, uncrowded slopes. Andorra's hidden treasure is Arcalis, a quiet resort at 1,950 to 2,625 m with 23 km of long pistes. Locals agree that it is the best place in Andorra for freeriders. This is where you will find one of the finest runs, which hosts a competition every year as part of the freeride World Tour Arcalis. It is also where good skiers and snowboarders can try their hand at heli-skiing or heli-boarding for just €150. For thrill-seekers there are also ice diving, kite-skiing, snowmobile and skibob rides, dog sledding and snowshoe hikes. Complete packages including flights, transfers, hotel and ski pass are offered by Vallnord's partner in Poland: Infoski.pl, tel.: 34 351 33 03
