Vrátna: mudslide destroys the gondola

On Monday 21 July a mudslide came down in the Vrátna valley in Slovakia. Initial reports say that the mountain hut, where 67 hikers were sheltering during the downpour, was almost completely destroyed, and the lift's valley station could collapse at any moment. At the top station of the Chleb lift, 55 hikers were left stranded; the Slovak mountain rescue service evacuated them.
