Roháče-Spálená: the new Leitner six-seater from the inside

Roháče-Spálená, SlovakiaBy Jacek Ciszak15 photos

At the Roháče-Spálená ski resort near Zuberec, the installation of a modern chairlift has been completed. We at skionline.pl had the chance to take a close look at this brand-new piece of kit built by Leitner and try it out. We share our impressions with our readers and are the first in Poland to show photos from inside the machine room and the lift operator's station. The new lift is a modern, detachable 6-seater chairlift fitted with blue covers (bubbles). It is almost identical to the one at Poland's Białka (Pasieka Express), but of an even newer generation (a more modern motor, better fail-safe protection). The lift is exactly 1,958 metres long, with a vertical drop of no less than 461 metres. The chairs travel at 5 m/s. For now skiers will ride up on 69 chairs, giving a capacity of 1,800 people per hour. More chairs are to be bought later to reach the full target capacity of 2,400 people per hour.
