Maso Corto, March '05
Maso Corto, March 2005. To get away from everyday duties, I took my wife skiing in March. It was our first time skiing on a glacier. To our surprise, the pistes turned out to be completely empty and perfectly groomed. Unlike ours back home. We stayed at the Top Residence Kurz hotel. During our stay we skied every piste. We started with the blues, of course, then came the reds and the blacks. Blue pistes F1 and F2 are for beginners and children; we went down them only once (straight-lining). Piste G3 joined with S2 makes for a decent long run. Red piste H: quite interesting, but very windy. I should add that the temperature was -25°C. To shelter a little from the wind, we moved over to the black pistes R1 and R2, served by covered chairlifts. Very interesting but demanding pistes. Twice I ended up face down on the frozen snow there. You can ride down from the glacier by cable car, but I recommend the very spectacular descent on G3 + S1 + T (black, though in my view only at the end). L1 is an interesting red piste, but an easy one, and it ends right by the hotel. There is a toboggan run alongside it. I recommend it as a break from skiing. In the afternoon you can soak your tired legs in the hotel pool with a view of the mountains. Romek. Send us your photos! [email protected]
