Odermatt ends excellent 2022 on high with Bormio Super G victory
Swiss claims easy win alongside downhill fourth to boost FIS World Cup hopes.
Alpine skiing star Marco Odermatt ended 2022 with another FIS World Cup victory at the Bormio Super G race in Italy to boost the defence of his overall title. Here is all you need to know:

- After winning the opening Sölden giant slalom race of the 2022/2023 season, Odermatt followed up with three more victories at Lake Louise, Val d'Isère and Alta Badia heading into the Bormio stop.

- The Swiss star then reeled off a comprehensive victory in the Bormio Super G on Thursday from Austrian Vincent Kriechmayr with compatriot Loïc Meillard an impressive third and Frenchman Alexis Pinturault fifth.

- Odermatt also claimed fourth in Wednesday's Bormio downhill behind winner Kriechmayr, Canadian James Crawford and Norwegian title rival Aleksander Aamodt Kilde with Italian Dominik Paris 10th.

- The 25-year-old now holds a 329-point lead over Kilde in the FIS World Cup overall standings and leads the Norwegian by 68 points in Super G, while Kilde leads him by 99 points in the downhill title race.

- The men's FIS World Cup circuit moves on next to Garmisch-Partenkirchen in Germany for a slalom race on January 4 with Zagreb in Croatia hosting back-to-back women's slalom races on January 4 and 5.
